The Park Hyatt New York Rossano Ferretti Hair Spa reimagines the luxury salon experience by blending the owner's Italian heritage with Manhattan elegance, creating an intimate, inviting space for both hotel guests and local residents. Relocated from the 25th to the 8th floor, the design reconnected with the target clientele while aligning with Park Hyatt’s sophisticated aesthetic. Our vision was to create a luxurious, residential-inspired oasis, offering a space that feels timeless and personal. From custom designed furnishings to carefully commissioned art pieces, every detail tells a story providing an experience that blurs the line between wellness and design. This project approaches salon design with a fresh perspective, focusing on creating meaningful connections rather than following conventional luxury formulas. The challenge lay in transforming a compact commercial space into something that felt personal and special – where clients would feel immediately at ease while still experiencing exceptional care.

We found inspiration in Italian homes rather than typical spas, designing intimate styling nooks where lacquered panels softly diffuse light, creating warmth rather than clinical brightness. The shampoo area became a place of quiet reflection, where clients can gaze upward at gently reflected patterns from our custom glass panels – a moment of calm in the city's rhythm.

What makes this space unique is how it honors its stories. Family photographs of generations of Ferretti artists are displayed as a gallery throughout the space. Custom lighting plays gently across surfaces, creating pockets of illumination that feel intuitive rather than prescribed. A commissioned artwork by a local Brooklyn painter adds a thoughtful burst of energy against the neutral palette.

The whole-life carbon assessment informed every material decision, ensuring sustainability and beauty coexist seamlessly. Maharam’s PFAS-free upholstery offers sumptuous comfort while meeting rigorous ISO-14001 standards, and Phillip Jeffries’ FSC-certified wallpapers bring organic textures without deforestation impact—proving responsible materials can enhance luxury rather than limit it.
