“das aktuelle sportstudio” is a German television classic. Airing every Saturday night, the magazine programme has been reporting on the world of sports to German viewers for 50 years. Right on time for the kick-off of this year’s Bundesliga season, the German TV brand “ZDFsport” received a completely new look. The new studio’s leitmotif is a swarm of specially developed LED modules designed to resemble a familiar situation found in German stadiums: the slewing of scarves on the terraces. Thanks to the LED swarm’s circular arrangement and the extension of the tribune area for studio guests, both live audiences and home viewers feel like they are in the middle of the action. Familiar elements of the “sportstudio” brand were also given a multi-media spin. For instance, the popular “Torwand” (soccer kick wall) was updated with integrated sensors and LED technology. Set modules such as the moderator’s standing desk and kinetic elements reflect the LED swarm’s design and help to maintain a consistent impression. In addition, polished black surfaces add a high-contrast and contemporary aura to the sports experience.
