Toro Pau Casals Salon project was born as a makeover of the hairdressing brand, taking advantage of an exceptional location: in the heart of uptown Barcelona.
The project requirements were clear; that functionality coexists with aesthetics obtaining a perfect symbiosis. Thus, in the search to honestly show the work of the stylists, to show the final result as it is,the intention has been to generate richness through the combination of vernacular materials that subtly generate the different spaces.
The layout of the Hall highlights the great breadth of the arrangement of the workstations, the prominence of the terrazzo reception, the glazed artisanal ceramic latticework and the natural vegetation, sustained thanks to the creation of a large skylight. Likewise, the treatment of the envelope, instead of taking one of the two traditional solutions - visible or hidden installations - has perceptively opted for a third way: the generation of curved false ceilings that allow to hide those elements that are no longer necessary to be shown but at the same time highlighting the traditional metallic structure.
All this with a stucco finish that, beyond a mere aesthetic choice, confers an overall acoustic and thermal improvement. Last but not least, it is worth noting the importance given to lighting. Despite having abundant natural light, the demand for faithful color reproduction implied an arduous job of filtering so that faithful visual perception was not incompatible with a generally warm and comfortable environment.
