MR PORTER London marks the debut of the Amsterdam-born steakhouse brand in the UK, brought to life by acclaimed design studio Baranowitz + Kronenberg. Positioned as what the designers call a “ladies’ steakhouse,” this reinterpretation challenges the traditional masculine archetype with a concept that is lighter in feel, leaner in form, and unapologetically elegant.

The design reflects this nuanced evolution — materials are at once crisply innovative and classically refined, chosen to create an environment that is both socially engaging and sensorially rich. The steakhouse is reimagined as a cinematic, subterranean world. Guests enter through a discreet copper door and descend a spiral staircase into a space defined by dualities: sensual and cerebral, public and private.

Inspired by the hidden Tyburn River that once shaped Mayfair’s geography, MR PORTER London invites reflection and immersion. A dramatic ceiling of mirror-polished copper panels creates a mesmerising illusion of infinite height, while a rich palette of brushed metals, natural stone, velvet upholstery, and grazing light delivers warmth, tactility, and an enveloping ambiance. Brass, copper, and gold tones soften the spatial boundaries and form a calming visual rhythm, blurring the line between architecture and atmosphere.

At the centre of the dining room, a 360-degree bar becomes a focal point, equally suited to intimate moments and spontaneous connection. Seating arrangements cater to every mood, with plush velvet cushions and sculptural stone accents that cradle guests in comfort. Each design element is curated to support Baranowitz + Kronenberg’s core philosophy: that architecture should stir emotion before admiration. The result is a space that fosters sensory engagement, human connection, and a deeply atmospheric dining experience.
