Featured as a marketing component for the annual Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair, the Salon de TE hall had to differentiate itself, as it was the only hall opened to the general public and media. For this, the fair organiser requested a special introductory passageway of 745m2 to welcome visitors before they embarked into 4 different zones to explore over 140 international watch brands within this hall. To evoke a feeling of new discovery for the visitors, an abstract concept was developed under the title The Multiverse. A series of spatial installations were created to depict an artisan watchmaker subconscious world. Each thematic installation was a physical interpretation of this craftsman’s inner vision and focus. Using references of water and sand, the various immersive experiences in the space embodied a sense of discovery, an inner calm, a visceral effect to stimulate the visitors’ presence. Functionally, the introductory passageway had to physically connecting to the 4 distinct zones and VIP area within the hall. Furthermore, a stage for multi-event activities such as product launches, seminars and cocktail reception was also required.
