M Moser partnered with a global consultancy company to create an innovative and flexible workplace focused on the future of work principles. During the strategy process, M Moser engaged with 20+ people from across the firm in several workshops, interviews and reviews.
The global consultancy required M Moser to help them build a culture of ideas sharing. In the previous configuration, individual work was predominant in the layout. M Moser's design solutions decrease the number of individual work points and increase both 'hybrid' and collaborative settings. In addition, it needed to be a desirable place to work, drawing staff from across the campus to encourage them to experiment with new ways of working.
As a result, M Moser developed the concept of 'The Dock' for the global consultancy. The Dock is a community workspace for the 'loading and unloading' of ideas. The design principles for The Dock are:
•Flexibility: a space that is fast to adapt and easy to experiment in
•Less ownership: broad capacity and choice and no fixed desks
•Furniture-led: a range of furniture typologies to support diverse needs
•Agile experience: supporting a connected remote, office, and hybrid workforce
•A collaborative environment with multiple communal and shared spaces
•Mission-driven: combining the company's global values with the local culture.
As you enter The Dock, a variety of seating acts as a social hub with views out to the water.
The space's flexibility allows the consultants to choose how and where they do their best work, with 80% of the work settings dedicated to collaborative working. One of the innovative aspects of this office design is the ideation court that sits in the centre of the floor plan. Guided by graphics on the floor, the team can quickly reconfigure the space to suit their needs.
This energetic space allows the lively sharing of ideas, and a recycled acoustic product on the exposed ceiling helps to mute the sound. Bookable meeting rooms provide more privacy when needed, and a study area at the back offers individual focus settings, such as one-person booths or desks for heads-down work.
"M Moser went beyond our brief with their willingness to challenge existing behaviours and beliefs. It has helped our company change people's mindsets on the purpose of the office. The Dock is about meeting people and creating spaces that meet people's needs. Every time I visit, the Dock is in a different set-up. It has been really well received by our team as a space that sparks creativity and brings people together.”

The project sets a new benchmark for future spaces. Demonstrating how the next generation of talent wants to work aligns with the office's purpose to collaborate and connect with people and brands. It takes onboard feedback around remote training and mentorship challenges for junior staff members.'
