This project is a renovation of an old factory dormitory building. 1. Practical brutalism: This alienation of brutalism is the result of the collision between the source of western brutalism and the current production situation in China's countryside. It can also be said that this style is the children born from Corbusier's marriage with Chinese farmers, it is full of vitality and full of honesty to the essence of architecture. This is the most basic logic of the building we designed, and the problems involved in all aspects are also developed in the design of this building. 2. To deal with unpredictable function and unpredictable investment plan: In terms of circulation, we designed three relatively independent entrances and vertical circulation. The largest central entrance hall connects the four guest rooms upstairs by staircase, while on both sides there is a unit of three rooms and one hall with independent vertical circulation and an entrance. Any unit can be operated independently in the early stage. In terms of the main structure of the building, we tried to create a large warehouse structure cover the existing building that make the inside walls could be completely replaced in the future to release the possibility of all the spaces in the building in the future. 3. To construct a relationship between human and environment through architecture. Three trees on site: The newly expanded back area of the building encounters three existing trees, they become part of the building on the facade and even on the structure. Two transverse steel beams had collided with the tree in a rhombus, and the base of a steel column had collided with the root of a tree and branched into two herringbone columns at the bottom. The possibility of open rooms: We designed the whole open and doorlike window for the building, which gives each room the opportunity to have a space like a semi-outdoor gallery, The combination of interior furniture and space allows each activity to achieve a moment of communication with the outdoor environment. Stay with landscape in an intimate way: each room on the second floor has a white box floating in the space at the top, These boxes can be used as an extension of the room, when you enter the boxes, you will see that each box has a different window opening to a different view. 4. A way of living: Here, we hope to provide a kind of carefree and quiet way of living, longue, sofa, bar counter, table, bathtub is arranged around the bed loosely, and the natural environment that is wrapping whole space is outside of this circle of furniture. The original two rooms are combined into one room, but a huge, reinforced steel beam in the middle still highlights the boundary between the original two rooms. The spatial traces of the original building, the exposed steel structure, the rough wood texture, and the loosely arranged furniture make the whole space present a calm after time and a relaxation divorced from the delicacy.
