In Chinese, "上" (shàng) and "下" (xià), as contrasting antonyms, seem to exhibit a characteristic of interconnectedness between characters, embodying subtle philosophical reflections within the brand's language.say architects envisions the two levels as concealed yet open, flat yet dense, reserved yet expressive "symmetrical" spaces. The "central axis" serves as a freer state within the restrained architectural framework, implying that the space is a contradictory yet balanced existence.

The ground floor is comprised of a tea bar, tea gift boxes, and a ready-to-wear clothing area. Jing bricks and natural stones create a naturally reserved tea-drinking area, while the gift area is woven with delicate bamboo crafts. Embroidery and shadow celadon in the clothing area bring a sense of elegance and gentleness to the space. The fusion of porcelain and bamboo, jade and silk, elegantly embodies the understated beauty of Chinese aesthetics, blending harmoniously in a balanced manner.

The central axis leading to the second floor is embellished with a collage of giant bamboo weaves, breaking the balance with bamboo crafts extending like "outstretched arms." It consolidates various functional areas in form, visually creating a certain impact through scale. The dynamic interweaving serves not only as a conveyance of artistic conception but also as an evolution within the context of traditional cultural threads.
The furniture showroom on the second floor is constructed with embroidered wall surfaces, with rice paper screens softly partitioning the space. Among the most iconic pieces of SHANG XIA's carbon fiber chairs, the slender and light Ming-style official hat chair is a collision of tradition and innovation, featuring lively colors that bring more imagination to the blank space.

In the design of SHANGXIA, traditional intangible cultural heritage crafts are seamlessly integrated into modern space through innovative methods. The handcrafted elements used in the space employ raw materials, and through research on the local urban context, the selection of materials is aimed at returning as much as possible to the local origin, thereby significantly reducing the environmental impact. Say hopes that the exquisite traditional Chinese craftsmanship can blend into the space in a softer manner. The large bamboo weaves and porcelain embroideries in the space are all made by traditional craftsmen, while the natural texture of the original stone tea table is preserved, minimizing the harm and energy consumption caused by industrial manufacturing.

Simultaneously, SAY aims to amplify the sustainability of forward-looking traditional culture, going beyond the sustainability of materials. Traditional crafts undergo a fresh interpretation in modern spaces, ensuring the excellent inheritance and development of intangible cultural heritage, leading to a massive output of Chinese culture.
