•Project Summary : The project aims to combine the display of the PRESS BUTTER SAND (standard butter sandwich cookies) and the PRESS BUTTER SAND Gallery (display of newly developed butter sandwich cookies) in a single space.

•Concept of the Gallery : The PRESS BUTTER SAND Gallery is a place for experimentation to create sweets that stimulate the senses. The products break away from preconceptions by combining ingredients that have never been used in the standard PRESS BUTTER SAND or using different quantities of ingredients. Our design adopted elements of chemical reaction to express a brand that would alter the confectionery industry's future.

•Adopting Titanium : We superimposed the image of titanium, a material that causes chemical reactions by applying heat or changing the thickness of the anode oxide layer, on the brand with infinite possibilities, which is still not yet fully defined and can take on any color. This material, which exhibits various colors and expressions, is lighter and more durable than stainless steel. While it is often used in sensitive environments like medical and aeronautical settings, its design possibilities have not been recognized because of the difficulty in construction and the high cost. Our exploration of titanium's unique design possibilities led to a design that expresses the ingenuity and inquisitiveness of the Press Butter Sand Gallery.

•Reason for Space Division : The Press Butter Sand display is based on the 'down-to-earth craftsman' aesthetic, in contrast to the Press Butter Sand Gallery, which embodies the spirit of a 'playful artist.' The Gallery showcases titanium's color gradation, a stark contrast to the dark color palette of the Press Butter Sand display, inviting customers to explore the unique design elements.

•Design Boundary : We focused on the design boundary between the two contrasting elements and used it as the primary axis of the space design. The showcase extends from the storefront to the left and right, guiding visitors to the back of the space. The boundary between materials is deliberately set in an incongruous location, and the space switches between "light and dark" and tube lights between "movement and stillness" using that line as a boundary. Typically, elements with common qualities meet horizontally and vertically at corners and angles. In contrast, this store space expressed the beauty of the "design boundary" resulting from shifting the positions and angles at which they meet.

•Space Expansion : In addition, the Pressed Butter Sandwich Gallery was designed to allow space expansion to accommodate newly developed product lines. We arranged fixtures like crashed crystals against the volume of an extensive showcase, overlapping naturally formed materials such as wood and stone against titanium, which is a metal. It is the art of combining materials by a playful artist and changing the layout and angles of the fixtures creates new possibilities for the space.
