The design concept draws inspiration from the streaks left by stars slashing across the pre-dawn sky. These star trails represent time’s passage, each star’s arc marking a fleeting moment. Countless intertwining star trails compose the cosmic timeline. Cinema itself, an art form of time, transports the audience on a condensed journey through a lifetime or a fantastical adventure within a mere two hours.
The circular form created by the star trails shapes the ceiling, becoming not only a visual focal point but also a portal connecting different times and spaces. Before entering the cinema hall, patrons pass through a "Dawnlight" corridor crafted with gradient glass. Patrons transition from reality to the cinematic space via a "Dawnlight" passage constructed of gradient glass. The designer expertly captures the ethereal qualities of dawn, that interplay of light and mystery bridging day and night, reality and dreams. This chromatic shift acts as a psychological cue, aiding patrons in transitioning from the mundane to the cinematic, preparing them for the immersive experience ahead. Journeying through this "Portal of Time," audiences embark on adventures beyond reality within the virtual worlds created by film. Functionality is optimized through thoughtful spatial planning inspired by star trails and cosmic time. The lobby’s layout uses flowing curves to guide visitors naturally through ticket counters, concession stands, and waiting lounges, ensuring smooth customer flow.
The design creates an immersive experience by blurring the boundaries between reality and cinema. This is achieved through an interwoven spatial concept where the lobby features numerous LED screens displaying dynamic film promotions. These screens, combined with reflective metallic walls, generate a visual effect that merges reality with illusion, making patrons feel as if they have stepped into the cinematic world from the moment they enter. The use of flexible LED content also allows the space to stay fresh and relevant, avoiding waste from static decorations and supporting sustainable design practices.
Sustainability is prioritized through material choices and design strategies. The extensive use of wood-plastic composite panels reduces building load and transportation emissions compared to metal, while utilizing recyclable wood waste and plastics. This material choice also shortens construction time, reduces noise and dust pollution, and lowers environmental impact. The design incorporates light-colored, glossy surfaces to maximize natural light reflection, reducing the need for artificial lighting and energy consumption. The flexible LED screens further support sustainability by eliminating the need for frequent physical decoration replacements.
