The craftsmen of Xin Rong Ji are the designer and the proprietor who work together to create such a picture-like restaurant. We all know that plants need light for photosynthesis, but plants have slightly different needs at different stages. There are lush green bonsai on both sides of the restaurant door coming into view when you step on the porch. The top light on the door looks like the grow light installed in a propagator, providing a glimpse of the liveliness indoors.
Crossing the lobby of oriental beauty, diners enter the open kitchen of red bricks and ovens. The open cooking area blends in elements of different times, seducing customers' eyes, nostrils, and taste buds. The gardens suggest movement as well as peace. Incorporating the background landscape into the composition, the small garden stands for peace with borrowed scenery; and the big garden embodies the movement, with an arch at the end of the passage sealing the spacious area, which enriches the traffic flow and serves as a scene itself. The staggered layout of big and small areas with different decorations enlarges the space visually.
The light and shadow of the landscape and the borrowed scenery involuntarily come into sight. Among the arc-shaped glass compartments, the corridor, and different functional areas in the public area, there are partitions resembling that of the traditional Chinese pavilion —— Pavilion of Surging Waves. One look from different angles can present an uninterrupted view of the area or just a glimpse of the beauty. That's the originality of the design. Tableware tells the life attitude and suggests the appreciation of oriental aesthetics. In the middle of the dining room stands a delicately-made wooden table on which is a big vase that stresses the elegance of the restaurant. In the boxes not far away from the table, the light beams in through the frosted glass, blurring the scene outside. The cultural deposits are harbored in the decoration.
The strong colors are balanced with the quietly elegant environment. The wooden bar counter is like a docking boat and the wall lamps resemble the lights on fishing boats. On the "boat", there is mellow wine. These simple arrangements organically connect the general design, presenting the compelling stories of Xin Rong Ji gently. Senses of luxury and intimacy culminate in the rest area, where the French shutters enable customers to enjoy the natural sunlight filtering into the room. The entrance of the boxes stretches the customer's vision in all directions, rendering the space regular as well as flexible. The ingenues' use of light integrates the box's humility with elegance.
Outside the window there is the prosperous central business district, inside the window it is the scene of the Old Bund. This contrast makes Xin Rong Ji look like a historical landscape with a hint of modernity.
