Moncler turns 70 this year. To showcase the brand’s history, Modem, the office for design and innovation, designed a pioneering exhibition. Dubbed the “The Extraordinary Expedition,” the multi-city event embarks visitors on an immersive journey, with distinct, large scale interactive environments combining multisensory film and archival pieces Visitors begin their ‘Extraordinary Expedition’ in the stark basecamp entrance void and are transported to an indoor alpine environment, boasting a large-scale mountain sculpture. The experience is enriched by a cinematic CGI film, immersive sound and narrative design, along with organic sensations of fog, wind, snow and olfactory effects that simulate the snowy mountains that inspired the brand. Anticipation stoked, guests continue their communal journey, exploring ‘Memory Boxes’ displaying defining brand events from the past seven decades and the most iconic looks from Moncler’s fashion archives, including iconic garments from Craig Green, Off-White and Rick Owens. An exclusive NFT designed by 3D artist Antoni Tudisco will be gifted to the first 500 visitors in each city, reinforcing the sense that the visionary Moncler journey is future facing. The ‘Extraordinary Expedition’ touches down in New York, London, Seoul, and finally, Tokyo. The London event, which coincided with the Frieze art fair, featured a special exhibition and talk by British portrait photographer Platon, who has captured ordinary people, achieving the extraordinary.
