The brief was to represent the global Microsoft brand whilst reflecting the project distinct Sydney context and site. The space needed to host a myriad of different demographics, from children to CEOs and seamlessly cater for these diverse requirements with a complex spatial plan. A focus on the natural beauty of the Australian landscape was fundamental to this project and explored through the use of bold textures, colours and forms. The space celebrates all facets of its Australian context, not only the physical forms but also looking deeper at the built environment as well as the less tangible qualities of the local culture, language and design community.

The design infuses a human-centric, almost residential touch into the workplace, developing a warm and welcoming environment where guests are encouraged to linger and interact with the space. This was explored through our layered material palettes including floor transitions of timber, terrazzo and terracotta and unexpected upholstered elements. Moreover the injection of anthropomorphic forms ensures the human experience remains the central aspect of the design whilst the exposed ceilings, feature phone booth lightboxes and undulating light features are fun reminders you are part of one of the worlds largest tech companies.
