Red. Emblematic of theatre aesthetic, the color is the focal point of the new digital art gallery “Le Studio”, located in the Grand Théâtre de Québec. Visible from the public space through the wide curtain walls, the red acts as an attractant signal inviting pedestrians to discover the new innovative place which combines bar service and kitchen as well as an exhibit space divided into two distinct zones.

A harmonie of red camaïeux declined in a variety of textures and materials covers the service area. The bar’s curved shape ensures visibility of all towards the stages and infuses a certain dynamic and fluidity to the space interacting with the custom-made lighting just above. At the opposite side, as a scene, black covers the space making sure all the attention is paid to the artistic presentation which can benefit the liberty given by the imposing height and the versatility of the space. Furthermore, all the technical equipment is cleverly concealed by gutters and other built-in dissimulation systems ensuring the premises are safe, flexible and comfortable.

In addition, VIP lounges and acoustic panels have been integrated into the layout to provide comfort at all levels. Le Studio tends to offer visibility, material and financial support for local emerging artists. Free entry fees and universal access aim to broaden horizons and diversify audiences in order to democratize access to art in all its forms, be it digital, musical, gastronomic or architectural. The result is a strengthening and outreach of this cultural pole, thereby stimulating economic and social vitality in the surrounding area.
