This unique journey starts in the entrance plaza of the Heineken Experience. While facing the historical south Façade of the monumental brewery, an elevator is awaiting under the big light sign that states Rooftop. This elevator was built inside one of the original silos in the silo building and brings you all the way up to the top floor.
There, the doors of the elevator open; you immediately immerse yourself in a one-of-a-kind metropolitan yet industrial Heineken® bar, where the architectural structure of the space speaks for itself. Everything in this space was designed to bring the original brewery elements and materials to life. The walls are inspired by stacked burlap sacks stamped with curious facts and Dutch names, and the bar is built with the iconic WoBo bottles; the Heineken bottle that was invented by Freddy Heineken to be upcycled. Yet again The Heineken Experience brings old and new together with a timeless yet innovative design.
On this floor visitors can learn more about how Heineken® used to transport ingredients from the city canals into the brewery and what the function of the old Moutzolder (malt attic) used to be. The rooftop bar now reveals original details from when the brewery was still in use, such as the malt distribution machine in the ceiling. Lastly, the building’s roof has also been renovated, making it accessible to guests for the very first time. From the brand-new rooftop terrace, guests can enjoy a fresh beer whilst overlooking one of the most beautiful views of Amsterdam.
