Sejung is a Korean fashion retail company started in 1974, and its first warehouse left unused for decades.
The project started how to reuse this building with new program and a large-scale logistic facility with its original 20 feet tall open structure was worth to keep in order to add mezzanine to overlooking and allow people to spend enough time and enjoy the space.
Architectural design was set new building parts sit on top of the old gabled warehouse, and a large stepped stairway connects through the floors diagonally.
The existing structure was remained with new color, material and finishes helped to create a bright and refreshing atmosphere within.
The parking structure, the only new building on site, was designed to be the background because the parking space is too obstructed on one side of the open space of the ground level while planning enough parking lot in the conventional welfare. The facade wall of the parking structure were seen from the entering the site. In order to avoid massiveness, the structure was covered with small and light fins and stay in harmony with the overall surroundings.
It is a place suitable for exposing the identity of the company with the Sejung history exhibition space in front of the children's room and the nursing room, arranged around the waiting room on the first floor elevator.
And there is a roof top area where people take rest and watch outdoor movie screenings using water tank wall.
