Camper is known for applying great creativity to their products; being each of them very unique and independent concepts on their own. This tiny retail space is conceived to display each Camper item separately, with its own space, bringing more attention to the products and establishing a more intimate relationship with the buyer. For that we thought on a niche system composed by roof tile-like ceramic elements.
These elements, very basic in shape, are produced by a simple process of extrusion-and-cut, with no glazing added; it is by repeating them throughout the space that they create complexity. They become the walls, shelves, staff counter and customers’ bench; there is no other presence in the space besides them. The aim was indeed to use such an old traditional material and find new ways to craft it, to shape it, to combine its units creating different architectural elements that can solve the needs of contemporary life.
Each of the ceramic pieces, due to their geometry, slide into steel C-shaped channels protruding from the walls, with no need of screws or adhesives for their installation. The lighting tracks are fixed to the underside of these steel channels by magnets. All this allowed to install the entire amount of ceramic and their lighting elements throughout the space in no more than two hours. Indeed, being the whole space composed by these small units of quick assembly, the shop concept represents a system that can be easily adapted to other uses and spaces.
