This case is located in Hongdu, Nanchang City, whose aviation history is an epitome of the Chinese aerospace industry. In the 1950s, Hongdu Machinery Factory produced China's first homemade aircraft, which took off successfully, and this case is located near the old take-off runway. Incorporating the local aviation background and historical culture, this case introduces architecture into the interior of a three-story space. The spatial structure gives a multi-level expression with the design techniques of deconstruction, restructuring and interweaving, while integrating exhibition, experience and sales. A closed-loop marketing motion line is formed in the vertical space, bringing a sense of narrative, ritual and experience. In this public exhibition hall that illustrates the dreams and missions of three generations of Hongdu people with the industrial deconstruction design style, visitors will have an immersive experience of the development of Chinese aerospace. The space, dominated by the dark gray tone, looks more comfortable when paired with warm colors. Starting from the entrance, the 7-meter-high hollowed space shows strength with the oblique cutting on the background wall of the reception counter. The cement textured windowpane contrasts the old house with today’s high-rise buildings. The glass curtain wall brings in natural light, enabling visitors to fully feel the historical changes, enhance the visual impact, while playing the guiding role of the motion line. With material, form and vision, it builds a dialogue of the times about the old and new, history, inheritance and dreams. The ladder book bar leads to the second floor. The structures of the two floors are interspersed with rich spatial hierarchy. The anode plates, along with the pillars and electro-mechanical ceiling structure, visually solve the low height problem of the second floor, and make the space more transparent. The first floor furnishes the basic functions of display and business. The second floor, which is the Hongdu History Museum, tells the history of China’s aviation development..The third floor has a swimming pool which can later be available to citizens nearby. With multiple space functions, the whole space is connected by the novel vertical motion lines, providing potential for sustainable use in the later stage. The design aims to find out the memory and future of the local people. With three artistic installations, the interior decorations depict the temporal variation in the history of aircraft, from the industrial origin (metal fission) to the production of the first plane (time journey), then to the changes in people's lives by technological development, and finally to the visions of the future (dream of flying). Meanwhile, artifacts with a rich sense of history, such as old furniture, utensils and ornaments, are melted into the modern space to create an experience of time shuttle.
