Mission Zeekr, an electric vehicle brand owned by Geely, has announced its establishment with the launch of the former Lynk & Co ZERO as Zeekr 001. With an upgraded design concept, this EV brand intends to position itself in the premium market. For the first debut of the ZEEKR's national launch tour in 2021, VAVE was invited to design a temporary store on the premise that the brand embraces future trends, technologies and a futuristic lifestyle. As the prototype of the brand's store design, it was important not only to showcase the car, but also to create a holistic experience around it.
Idea
VAVE has designed a unique "future archaeology" for the store, which we call „Futurology“. The concept plays with a science fiction scenario in which the Zeekr 001 and Z-lifestyle products have travelled from the future to the present and appeared in the park overnight.
To root this phenomenon, a research institute has been formed to study the mysterious objects and create a setting for the „excavations of the future". Zeekr is no longer presented as an electric car brand, but as a research institute for "futurology", a place to explore future trends. As part of the VAVE philosophy of #SpaceExperienceDesign, we wanted to create an entire "experience" around this excavation site. From different futuristic perspectives visitors were able to immerse themselves in a brand new Zeekr worldview.
Design
The Z-Site and the Z-Event The architecture is a four-sided transparent glass box, that also presents brand messages: "Stay zero. Stay cool. Future is our history“ on a LED-ticker. Upon entering the store, visitors are greeted by a special team of "futurologists" who supervise and operate the Z-site. The new Zeekr 001 is placed centrally and is complemented by a large media wall that presents the car in different contexts and environments. The display of the chassis and modular EV architecture invites visitors to discover the car's technology on the back of the media wall. At the entrance, visitors can select a customized fragrance at the Z-Scent station. Silver, large-format helmets let visitors experience the sound of the car's engine. The future of mobility also influences the future of interior design. Chromatic surfaces give the Z-Lounge, which is located on the mezzanine level, a surreal, futuristic look. The store also features a Z-Lifestyle boutique, where Zeekr's fashion and lifestyle collection is presented on a display system that incorporates the brand's logo in the details.
The Z-Perspective
In terms of operations, the concept of Z-site can be extended to the entire corporate identity; the new worldview is built from the perspective of experience design, with a whole set of out-of-the box branding strategies. The design has officially met with the public on May 1, as the national touring exhibition. ZEEKR set sail in Shanghai Aegean Shopping Park!
