This project is designed for the retail store of a women's clothing brand RRROSE, located in SAGA(Saige International Shopping Center), No.123 Chang’anzhong Road, Xi'an, Shaanxi Province, China. Based on the brand's desire to convey the aesthetic power of women's fashion and the concept of "building a new world in a primitive and brand constructing way" we created an experiential space surrounded by solid, stable materials.
We designed a series of props for the space, including movable mirrors, accessory display stands, and clothing racks. There isn’t any pre-made tables, chairs, or clothing shelves in the store. All props and installations were constructed on site by light steel keels, natural wood veneer panels, technology wood veneer, and stainless steel materials. The purpose was to use the design language to convey the brand's concept of "constructing and recreating clothing."
Considering the relationship between clothing products and the interior settings, we built the concept of "Interaction Between Time and Material" in the spatial design. As fabrics undergo processes such as cutting, stitching, piecing, and reshaping in different dimensions of production, they become imbued with artistic creation and construction. Therefore, in the store's spatial environment design, we applied the concepts of craftsmanship from the clothing production process as the main conceptual order.
We adopted various physical shapes, with light steel keels serving as the hidden skeleton beneath smooth wooden veneer panels, resin stone veneer symbolizing the rich textures of various synthetic fabrics. The interwoven lightweight wall structure, square wooden tables, cabinets, and speaker installations create a rich visual effect reminiscent of a clothing workshop. Stainless steel shelves and overhead stainless steel lights are arranged in a matrix in the space, expressing both the delicate elements and the rugged contrasts formed by the installations. This arrangement also reflects the RRROSE brand's cultural deconstruction of 'elements' and 'units' in the artistic product system.
This expression of space and the deployment of materials derives from the brand's understanding of the character of its products and the evolution of their secondary communication.
