JA!COCO! have transformed a dated Edinburgh townhouse office into a ‘Wonka-style’ factory of fun, colour and business innovation.
Colourful, bold design elements associated with JA!COCO!’s hospitality projects are utilised to stunning effect in the grand workplace of the world’s biggest beer subscription club Beer52.
Beer52’s business offer and brand screams of pleasure, colour and inclusivity while JA!COCO!’s experience designing daring and infamously original hospitality venues has rocketed the West End location into a living, breathing embodiment of Beer52’s identity.
Not many Georgian townhouses in Edinburgh can boast grand, arched-entrance swing doors and zig zag flooring in gloriously eccentric palettes that are part David Lynch, part Roald Dahl; beer taps on the reception desk adjacent to ‘wine-spilled’ carpet runners; and floor-to-ceiling custom window blinds with the brand’s vast array of characters and emblems.
The heart of the townhouse is the ‘Tasting Room’ where Beer52 and the newly launched Wine52’s business practice comes into full flow. Featuring a custom, poseur-height ‘blind-tasting’ table and a JA!COCO! design trademark of mixing bright powder-coated metal with dark wood, the room serves as an events space and storage facility to the thousands of products passing through the company’s doors each year.
Staff facilities include a gym, sauna, home-brew lab and pub complete with pizza garden while the factory-style meeting pods and break out areas feature custom playful pieces by JA!COCO! which all help to emphasise Beer52’s holistic approach to work and social activities.
With a return to office life a pivotal part of global business through 2022, JA!COCO! - in their most ambitious project to date - have created an office environment that skips past the tired ‘tech-bro’ interior tropes of the last few decades and glides gloriously into a dynamic, flexible and bold direction that shows off a centuries-old building to its former full glory.
