Caramel

NUMBER SUGAR is a store selling caramels made with the taste and color of natural ingredients. The handmade caramel products are laid out in the store wrapped in white paper and boxes, so that customers can enjoy encountering the brightly colored caramels for the first time when they take them out of the white boxes and put them in their mouths. For this reason, the caramel itself cannot be seen in the store space.

Therefore, we tried to create a space where customers can choose products while feeling caramel by incorporating elements of caramel into the store space.

In the Daikanyama store, we considered a space where visitors can experience the softness unique to caramel as "texture.
In considering materials to embody this "texture," we focused on the softness of rubber chips and decided to use them for the store's flooring. The rubber chips are constructed thicker than usual, so that even shoes can feel the softness.

Since rubber chips are a material that can also be used outdoors, we produced the material from the outdoors to the fixtures inside the store in an integrated manner. This made the store easy to enter by overcoming the level difference from the road in front of the store.

NUMBER SUGAR products are often purchased as souvenirs, so we thought it necessary to plan the store as a space where visitors can experience the pleasure of choosing. To this end, we designed a floor plan with a display stand in the center of the store and display shelves on each wall to create a flow line that allows customers to walk around the store as if they were taking a stroll while looking for products.
