The project is located in the old north of the city of Tel Aviv in a 54-year-old building, and reflects a Parisian bubble located between the beach of Tel Aviv and the city center.
The unconventional geometry and angles that characterize the structure of the building formed the basis for the design, and as an approach it was decided to emphasize them and use them over straightening them. The clients asked for a space where the design would express their personality. The space expresses the colorfulness of the tenants and is characterized by an eclecticism that combines many inherited items alongside modern geometry and materiality.
The resulting atmosphere is warm and enveloping and elegantly reflects the tension created between the traditional base the clients brought with them and the urban-modern environment in which the project is located.
The new layout was made possible by breaking a central wall that crossed the center of the apartment and revealed a constructive concrete pillar that became a generator when formulating the apartment plan. As you enter the apartment you come across the concrete pillar that reminds us of the original DNA of the space and thus preserves us a reflection of the past. At the same time, it represents the principle of exposure & authenticity which was very important for the clients.
The design language places textures and colors at the center as a means of expression and characterization while referring to the realization of planning principles such as orientation, thermal comfort and the use of natural light from a planning approach that places the human experience at the center.
The windows of the apartment are located in the eastern, northern and southern facades of the apartment so that in the eastern part of the apartment we located the home office, bedroom and kitchen to ensure maximum use of natural light during most of the day both for energy savings and for the wellbeing of tenants. The living room window opens the northern façade fully so that it guarantees us natural ventilation by using the dominant winds coming from the sea in this area; northwest, and allows maximum ventilation.
