Cafe Gaebang

Design Studiossong

Design Studiossong’s design for Cafe Gaebang in Seoul blends a retro design aesthetic with an open floor plan (Bar). Gaebang, Korean for ‘openness’, guides the spatial concept with a layout that maintains a connection to the central coffee bar throughout. ‘The combination of modernity and traditional craftsmanship reveals some of the designer’s ingenious ideas,’ says Wenke Lin, founder and design director at BDSD Boundless Design. ‘The space has an open and dynamic feel and is quite harmonious with the overall outdoor environment.’

Sorbet

MuseLab

Sorbet, a bathware experience centre in South Mumbai, transforms conventional showroom design through a bold colour strategy and intuitive spatial planning (Showroom). Designed by MuseLab, the 241-sq-m space occupies a former rug atelier where high walls and deep volume have been preserved and recontextualized. ‘Very good planning  – efficient and functional while integrating elegant curves.’ says Maud Capet, associate principal – interior design at OBMI.

Gallotti&Radice Showroom Milan

Studiopepe

Studiopepe reimagined the Milan showroom of Italian design brand Gallotti&Radice (Showroom). Reflecting the brand’s material-focused approach, the fluid open-plan environment features surfacing like wool curtains and panelled walls, with Studiopepe-designed 3D tiles made from recycled cellulose complementing the interior products on display. ‘A space that seems to exude the brand identity to a tee, creating a sensual canvas for the products to shine,’ notes Kaan Alpagut, design manager, workplace experience at The Lego Group.

Healing Pets

Informal Design

Located in Hangzhou’s Xiaoshan District, the pet shop and café balance the site’s urban fabric to create a quasi-natural environment for pets and their owners (Multi-Brand Store). Informal Design opted for rugged materials like washed stone – which provides a durable, non-slip surface ideal for pets – gravel, concrete and grey-washed walls, with warmer elements that help create an earthy yet welcoming retail space. ‘The space feels thoughtfully designed, creating a welcoming environment for both pets and their owners,’ says Sabine de Schutter, founder and CEO at Studio De Schutter. ‘The compilation of natural materials is beautifully curated and the overall attention to detail adds a layer of refinement to the project.’

She Log Brand Culture Experience Showroom

Leaping Creative

Leaping Creative drew on She Log’s natural approach to skincare for the design of the brand’s experience showroom in Guangzhou (Showroom). Across the 1,200-sq-m retail space, hints at nature and organic ingredients are present. Think: mushroom-like sculptures and Zen gardens. ‘Feels highly spirited, tranquil and ethereal – an uplifting space designed by curious spatial volumes,’ says Donald Strum, president at Michael Graves Design. ‘It offers an embellished cultural brand experience, rich with sensory elevation. The scale is incredible and intentionally over the top.’
