YOMA SPACE

LSD Interior Design

In Guangzhou's downtown area, LSD Interior Design created this 20,000-sq-m project as an oasis within a commercial building (Health Club, 6.66). Wooden materials and light strips define the entrance, minimizing the use of natural light to help visitors lose track of time. ‘The project shows a remarkable mastery in blending extreme modernity with elegance and touch’ says Andrea Sensoli, founder and principal architect at Superfuturedesign*.

JUNNO'S TABLE

Masanori Goto

Junno’s Table provides guests with a gastronomy experience that combines traditional cuisine and global influences (Restaurant, 5.35). Masanori Goto’s design called for an ambiance where modernity interweaves with rattan furniture from Hiroshima. The opacity of the woven pattern keeps sightlines open, connecting diners to the space. Rachele Albini, head of interior at AllesWirdGut complements the modesty and simplicity in the use of materials, but points out that a denser placement of the furniture could enhance the coziness the restaurant aims to convey.

THE LONG BAR

Studio Paolo Ferrari

Designed by Studio Paolo Ferrari,  the Long Bar (Bar, 7) on the 17th floor of Raffles Hotels and Resorts in Boston, is a testament to refinement and timelessness. The references to the modernist architectural style are balanced with the implementation of unconventional features such as the curvilinear seating. Drawing inspiration by Boston’s modernist architectural style, the monumentality of the double height interior is emphasized by the a selection of low-lying furnishing and built-ins. Contrasting textures, attuned colours,  and visual complexity compose the luxury interior that adheres to the brand’s identity.

BANANAIN concept store

Some Thoughts

Located in an underutilized street of Beijin, Bananain’s (Single-brand store, 6.68) first concept store captures the diverse cultural background of its surroundings into its design. A circular bridge marks the dynamic interior, allowing for an interrupted movement in the store, to encourage an unforced interaction between costumer and product. The geometric architectural elements are contradicting the organic texture of the walls, creating contrasting aesthetic. The industrial and technological details are woven into the interior of the store, emphasizing the contrasting comfort and functionality of Bananin’s products.

 THE CURLY LAB

Miriam Barrio Studio

Located in a modernist building in the heart of Barcelona, Curly Lab is a salon specialized in treating curly hair (Single-Brand Store, 6.92). Miriam Barrio Studio restored the traditional Catalan ceilings, which also served as a chromatic guideline for the warm, copper-toned colour palette. ‘The exquisitely crafted space demonstrates a meticulous attention to detail, says Magdalena Klosek, creative director at Ikea, ‘The concept is seamlessly integrated into every corner’.
