Central Tower Family Office

A Work of Substance

Limited natural light was a key issue in this workspace renovation for a family business in Hong Kong, where a dark, warm wood panelling brought a cozy, darkened feel and glass brick partitions were used to distribute available daylight (Small Office). Custom parquet floors pay tribute to local craftsmanship and terrariums with native flora reference the office’s home city while bringing life into the space. The office creates a residential ambiance, says Alexandra Cantacuzene, director of interior design at Al Futtaim Real Estate Group. ‘The use of circadian lighting which maximizes light diffusion and integration of biophilic elements enhance the feel of wellbeing,’ she says.

Any 1 Choco Flagship Store

Upsetters Architects

Any1 Choco is a chocolate brand developed by Japan Hydro PowTech (NHP), based on the concept of a plant-based, dairy free and gluten-free chocolate (Single-brand Store). Located in a typical two-story Singaporean shophouse, the shop optimizes a tight 60 square metres to include a storefront and a production kitchen. Tiles and plaster are made from cacao husks processed using NHP’s hydrolysis technology into tiles and plaster. Though he considered the use of the tiles a bit conventional, ‘the most interesting thing with this project is that the tiles are custom-made to incorporate cacao husks and are shaped like the chocolate bars that are being sold,’ says juror Peter Greenberg, partner at Ester Bruzkus Architekten.

T7.2 Dental Practice

Batek Architekten

In a departure from the conventional clinical aesthetic, T7.2 Dental Practice in Berlin was designed to be reminiscent of an art gallery (Healthcare Centre). Partially functioning as a space to display the owner’s collection, the practice gives the impression of a fancy living room or a homey showroom. ‘Interesting idea to get away from the typical sterile medical environment and design a space which feels more like a comfortable private apartment,’ says Alexandra Cantacuzene, juror and director of interior design at Al Futtaim Real Estate Group.

Golden Goose / Roma Flagship

Architecture & Store Design Golden Goose

Golden Goose’s Rome flagship embraces the raw textures of the historical building it is in, contrasting it with mirrored surfaces and industrial elements (Single-Brand Store). Venetian terrazzo floors reference the brand’s birthplace and salvaged vintage wooden furniture brings more texture and depth to the space. An artisanal atelier lies at the centre of the shop, where customers can work with skilled artisans to craft bespoke pieces.

Anta Sneakerverse

Anta China

Anta Sneakerverse is a fantastical and hyper-focussed sneaker shop that brings drama to the shopping experience (Single-Brand Store). A forward-leaning façade of black bricks, plus mirrored ceilings and dark furniture brings the space a surreal video game-like atmosphere. Different floors have different themes, with phygital retail and gamification elements into the shopping experience.
