The project is located in the CBD of Hangzhou, directly embracing the view of Qiantang River at a close distance. The space is divided into two parts horizontally, one for art and another for nature, which mutually interpenetrate with each other. Innovation: Along the water surface of Qiantang River, the space is horizontally divided into two interpenetrating parts. One is a curved art gallery space wrapped in curtain-like structures. Small arcs are repeatedly applied and combined in this space, which are reminiscent of the most intuitive feature of structuralist architecture. The curves help guide the circulation route, and shift the scenes. As stepping into this art space, visitors would feel like being wrapped by curved curtains. The curved openings reveal a glimpse of the broad river view, inviting them to walk through the curtains and enter the gathering space where nature and a modern vibe are fused. Creativity: Through the diversity of art and users' behaviors, the seemingly fragmented space is in fact extended with infinite possibilities. The reading area is more like an extension of the art gallery. With a tranquil atmosphere, it not only serves as a place for reading and art courses, but also for banquets under sunset. The shared living room is more like an extension of a private art salon. The bar counter area serve both coffee and alcohols, offering a relaxing setting for diversified activities. Functionality: This is an art space with multiple attributes. Compared with traditional galleries with a fixed function, it organically integrates an art gallery with the functions of living room, salon, and various activities and possibilities, and is capable of inspiring users' imagination and creativity. This space can be flexibly shifted between varied use scenarios, like reading room, meeting room, wine party, concert, banquet, reception, group entertainment activities, private or public exhibitions. Sustainability: The wooden floorings were processed by the use of naturally sourced vegetable oil for keeping a shiny surface, which is environment-friendly. Besides, those wooden floorings are recyclable. In case of the replacement of floorings when necessary in the future, those wooden floor boards can be recycled by the supplier and be reused.
