Snøhetta commissioned Natural Material Studio to design and create the first retail installation for Typology at Printemps Hausmann, Paris. The installation is built on a concept of Japanese theater play projecting the silhouette of the Typology skincare onto the studio’s bio textiles. From this concept Natural Material Studio developed a retail design with bespoke display furniture pieces for Typology’s products using their own bio materials. The materials are made using the studio's own material technique and process, called Procel. Procel is a composition of natural polymers based on proteins, natural softener, reishi mushroom and chalk. The result is unique textile works that are rich in texture and visually intriguing. Warm and earthy in tone, each piece is cast by hand, with swirls and bubbles appearing in the process, like the movement of nature caught in time. The material is natural, biodegradable and compostable at home, and can be remelted, making it an entirely circular product.
