In contrast to the homes exterior formal french provincial façade, the interiors of Toorak Residence evokes a more relaxed and luxe living experience.
The inner city home sits within a leafy cul de sac street. A family home of 2 levels with basement and roof attic spaces. In plan the spaces are arranged in a formal composition with the grand stair void connecting the 4 levels.
Basement level with carpark, gym, theatre and wine cellar. Ground level houses the main kitchen, butlers, living, dining spaces and guest powder room, whilst level 1 has the sleeping zones with aroof attic level opening up to creative studio room and guest bedroom.
Colour and texture used in the interiors evoke emotion and intrigue. This was the key design approach to the interior experience of the home which complements the inhabitants personalities.
The hero of the interior focusses on the heart beat of the home being main kitchen and coffee bar. Sculptural in form with refined detailing and a rich material pallete of verde marble and brass, amplifying the culinary and dining experience.
The defining moment of the space is the brass pipe chandelier which pierces through the stair void like shards of asteroids jellying the 4 level stair void which wraps and twists its way through the centre of the lobby space.
Green tones chosen to pop against the stark white walls with brass detailing adding a touch of luxe. Black was introduced setting the mood for a more seductive experience within the guest powder room , kitchen and master ensuite intensifying emotion within the spaces. Rosso lavanto marble adds warmth within the basement cellar heightening the underground wine room experience.
Textural and tactile finishes add to the rich tonal palette such as ribbed joinery panels, hexagonal mosaic wall and floor tiles, reeded glass to obscure views yet still allowing natural light to penetrate through. Olive green carpet to the staircase gives a warm welcome to the entry lobby when entering the home and as you progress up through the lobby void.
Soft radius edges where introduced to soften the formal room arrangement to custom designed joinery.
