Starting today, Zürich’s ABB-Hall transforms into one of Europe’s largest design fairs. With 117 exhibitors from 14 countries, Neue Räume is an important resource for designers, decorators and architects but also the general public. Adjacent to the main fair, Design in the City will showcase specific projects in different venues around town. The event runs till Saturday 1 December.
In its seventh edition, Neue Räume presents the latest in textile, flooring, wall covering, kitchen and bathroom design. Divided into themes, the former industrial ABB-Hall is a dramatic setting that allows exhibitors to collectively set new trends. Next to brand and gallery showcases, special projects and so called novelties put a dynamic spin on the event. This year’s programme is bigger and more dynamic than ever.
Atelier OÏ creates an installation inspired by the far east, starry skies and nomadic tribes. The Swiss design trio employs high-end craftsmanship and traditional materials like glass and leather. Often collaborating with renowned manufactures, Atelier OÏ uses large Moroso’s Oasi fabrics as backdrops for their installation at Neue Räume 13. With this setting, the firm presents their latest Stelle Filanti lighting collection for Venini.
Swiss designer Benjamin Thut curates Swiss Made: The CH Group – an exhibition entirely dedicated to the country’s thriving design market. Products from 13 companies represent the best of Swiss manufacturing and demonstrate Switzerland’s global ranking. Within ABB-Hall, the exhibition will debut new items from industry-leaders like Adeco, Baltensweiler, IGN, Röthlisberger and Tossa.
For the second time, Neue Räume presents In The City: Design in the Centre of Zürich – 20 non-design stores, cafes and bars will feature new furniture, lighting and textile products from international brands. This successful marketing scheme – first tested during Neue Räume 11 – juxtaposes these items in unexpected places.
