What would be the role of glasses? As Korea’s first eyewear select shop that contains a variety of brands from classic to high-end, Papyrus suggests various styles including essential role of glasses as a ‘Tool that makes objects stand out of sight’ to the ‘Tool that makes oneself stand out’. Multi persona phenomenon in metaverse and virtual reality that increased rapidly after COVID-19 pandemic appears offline indubitably. An act of changing persona situationally or on one’s feelings is one of stress solutions and functions as a process to meet and get to know ‘Another me’ I didn't know. It was also the start of design for Papyrus main ship in Lotte Department Store. Launching a shop in a department store assumes some requirements. Numerous guidelines such as color, finishing materials and illuminance of lighting are them. Among a variety of facades that show off oneself to the limit, Papyrus devised not to expose interior as itself by minimizing display of glasses in front of shop and installing a big round type mass at the entrance. Through the contrast of rough, strong and red color and finishing materials holding reflexibility, however, the shop created Papyrus’ own face catching eyes and arousing curiosity of passersby. Here, at the entrance twisted to the direction of human traffic from the center as a tool for tempting consumers to go inside, a video in the monitor to give a hint what is inside is being played. While a round type main mass viewed from outside created an in-depth space sense by reflecting external light, consumers come across another face shining light to the fullest after entering the space. The inner center where products are densely displayed lets consumers having illusion of standing in the center of a circular space by using reflecting finishing materials for extension of space sense. And carpet on the floor minimizes damage of glasses in the unlikely event of dropping, and indirect light which is used as a main light enables consumers to feel psychological stability. In the space, consumers can experience various products suited to one’s taste and receive suggestion for a new style suitable for lifestyle. Round type composition supplemented shortcomings of T-space. Creating varied scenes through the clash of mass and mass, it gives life to the composition of space that can be tedious. Standing at the tip of the space, consumers may feel the depth of shop through the extension of eyes to both sides. “I am my own muse. I am the subject I know best. The subject I want to better. -Frida Kahlo" Like Frida Kahlo’s quotation used in front, the space suggests time for people today living in individualized multimedia society to focus more on me and get to know various aspects they didn't know.
