Chinese electric vehicle brand Nio opened a mixed-use showroom concept in Jinan, Kuan Hou Li Plaza near Black Tiger Spring. The Nio ‘House of Progress’, designed by Lukstudio, combines the traditional brand showroom with hospitality and leisure spaces to engage the community.
The car showroom and user area are separate from one another. Full-height windows facing the street reveal the car showroom to passers-by. Guests enter the space from the back, greeted by two central courtyard spaces finished in restored bricks and clay tiles and a fountain. Wood shelving creates two niche seating areas with sofas and chairs which face the courtyards, invoking a domestic feel.
Located at the centre of the users’ area, the café area provides access to a multi-purpose space, children’s playroom, and the staircase to the first floor and terrace. A long wooden table occupies the centre of the room with a bar and stools at the barista area. The rooftop hosts an outdoor terrace for leisure, surrounded by a glass railing with white gradient.
