DEESAWAT as one of the BCG 50 heroes of Thailand, which is project for sustainable development by Thai government (DITP) .
We did try to find the various solution to create sustainable product. And this Parrallel collection is one of the solution from DEESAWAT . Teakwood material is actually sustainable material…and generally used for outdoor furniture. But most of the collection generally used all the large size of material where all the small cut were left behind and was not be used in furniture production. We do believe that Teakwood is teakwood and quality of the timber are in every single piece no matter big or small. That is why we did collaborate with SAMUEL WILKINSON from UK to create the collection with small size of timber which is 1”x1.5” under the concept “LESS IS MORE “ “SMALL YET VALUABLE” .
The basic idea start of the concept where we believe that LATTICE concept is generally universal in all culture, and they can easily blend into all the environment. The concept behind is to create something that can last through generation, because teakwood does. So with this simple clean line concept, they can easily fit into all environment either classic or contemporary. The collection are the combination of dining table size 80x200x75 cm, and bench size 45x200x41.5 cm.
This parallel collection was designed with a complete flat pack for logistic handling, and better protection for damage during transportation. And the joint construction was designed with architect and craft concept to stabilized the construction of public or private function. From this collection, we have inspired a lot of young designer in Thailand to see what they can create from off cut and waste of material from the production, and start treating them as another material…not as a waste.
