Art directed by experimentadesign (EXD), The Lisbonaire apartment-style hotel is in the heart of Lisbon, near the lively Chiado district.
Located in a refurbished 1960’s building, the project gathered a notable group of Portuguese designers who were invited to renovate the interior.
Strongly influenced by Portuguese culture while focusing on Lisbon’s Baixa and Chiado areas, Lisbonaire’s location became essential to its design. Evoking a specific visual and graphic element taken from the evolving area, each of the 19 apartments was commissioned to one designer respectively.
The individual results bring a part of the surrounding graphic patrimony directly to the interior. Every apartment is unique creating distinctive interpretations of Lisbon’s popular culture. A collection of furniture was custom-created by Pedrita studio for Lisbonaire, with all pieces produced in Portugal.
The Lisbonaire is the first touristic incursion of EXD, a non-profit organization best known for organizing the Lisbon Design Biennale.
