Israel-based designer Itay Ohaly reached into his inner child for an exhibition for the Design Museum Holon in Israel. When remembering his first artistic creations, he was reminded of learning to make color etchings in kindergarten. Beginning with drawing coloured doodles and pictures and covered over it with solid black. The process of etching revealed the vivid underlayer in bits and pieces.
He translated this memory into a spatial expereince for the youth to the museum. A monochromatic black room filled with matching contents served as a canvas to visitors. Freely expressing themselves across the walls, tables, chairs and floor to make a one-of-a-kind design only limited by their imaginations. A second room was planned by Ohaly with ornate details carved with a CNC router.
