Sited in the heart of Shanghai beside Huangpu River, the apartment renovation project enjoys fantastic views of three famous skycrapers in Shanghai. The designers built an ideal room by mixing an industrial spatial structure and exquisite furnishings, to recall the memory of the 1980s yet satisfy demands of modern life.

Reorganize space

The original apartment had three rooms and one hall, which were tight and densely arranged, with simple decoration and bad natural lighting conditions. By removing original partitions, the designers reorganized the layout to create two circulations from the wood and metal entrance door. The living room connects the open kitchen, offering larger usable space.

Add art-deco elements

Customized display shelves set against the wall not only outline the range of living room, but add aesthetic ambience. A linear arrangement of two spotlights makes the space enjoy gallery-like decoration.

Low-saturation colors blended with black, white and grey highlight the outlines of geometric structures, which injects artistry of modern life into space and echoes the client’s identity.

Integrate functions

As a workplace and dwelling, every detail is considered to better serve the client. From booth seating to water bar counter, rectangular shapes are adopted to welcome open communication in the modern loft-style apartment. Matched with shelves, the booth seating serves as display table and storage cabinet, making the corner available for reading and socializing.
