Weingarten 1897: New beginnings for the picture-perfect destination - Vintage x Tomorrow: Carefully and under sustainable aspects a more than 120 years old former winegrower's house with approx. 750 square meter large property and old wine cellar at the Moselle, a traditional German wine and vacation area, was rebuilt. - Innovative design: design that appeals to all the senses, and a unique storytelling concept were developed. - Radically innovative: The holiday apartment house project sees itself as an incubator for a new movement in the internationally popular vacation region on the Moselle, that breaks with the aging conventions of the region - Weingarten 1897: An unusual guest concept with original vacation apartments, a spacious outdoor area and a small integrated guest store promises feel-good vacations with an extraordinary experience character. Unique apartment house The main building, formerly the home of a family of winegrowers, was completely rebuilt, including the attic and barn. Four apartment units of different sizes, each with its own character, found space here. Together with the outdoor area with a courtyard, wine cellar, covered outdoor lounge, garden, its own revitalized piece of vineyard and the store "Flaschenlager" (Bottle Storage), the high living comfort of the vacation apartments is combined with the vintage charm of the former winery to create an extraordinary place to stay, which invites you to explore and will be remembered forever. Scenographic design concept Kitti Schwenke, who moved to the Moselle for love after her career as a fashion designer in Paris and now works as a designer for animal fashions in Trier, loves rosé in the summer and switches to red wine in the winter. The interior has to match both... The fictional namesake of our smallest apartment has furnished it warm and cozy and entirely in red and raspberry tones. Her well-designed, yet unconventional lifestyle is reflected in the hand-picked individual pieces. With their different sizes and furnishing styles, all of the vacation apartments in the Weingarten 1897 tell the story of the - fictitious - inhabitants of the house, after whom the apartments are also named. In the apartment of the former cargo ship captain and later Moselle fisherman Fritzi Bur, you will find faded photos and a few nautical souvenirs, and in the apartment of the cook Gesa Himmelreich, who already crossed the English Channel in a hot air balloon, you will not only find a kitchen equipped with all modern conveniences... The personalities make you want to go in search of clues in the apartments and explore the stories behind the people. The guest is addressed with all their senses. This is very well received by our guests. Guests have even asked us for the wonderfully fragrant detergent from Kitti Schwenke... Unique Position Whether it's the tile pattern, graphics, carpet, signage, naming, the wall coverings, the crooked, knotty old wooden staircase, quaintly grained oak floorboards or the leather floor in the Fritzi Bur apartment: every detail creates an identity and - in addition to functional and comfort criteria - is also selected for its storytelling qualities. Renovation: Tradition, re-styled On each floor, the previously small-scale room layout was broken up, ceilings removed, bathrooms moved to the other side of the house, and everything turned upside down. The history and former purpose of the property should remain visible. Structural substance and typical equipment of the former winery were left as far as possible or recycled and re-integrated into the concept. In the inner courtyard with the old traverses and rope hoists of the former winery, there is a picturesque place on the wooden platform for a glass of wine and a snack after the day's hike; another one, facing the street, is found in front of the house. Old floorboards from a removed ceiling, for example, found a new purpose as architectural wall elements in the apartment "Gesa Himmelreich". Also preserved are green-gold-brown tiles, relics from the 70s in the former barn, they now adorn a wall in the apartment "Fritzi Bur". The large former bottle warehouse and the "bottle wash" behind the house have also been preserved. On their roof today the outdoor lounge of about 30 square meters invites guests to breakfast and a sundowner. Equipment: High-end Smart TV, IPad, radio with connectivity to your own devices, wifi and sound systems from Teufel complement the sophisticated, detail-loving interior design and the modern kitchen, bathroom and living equipment, which sets new standards in the segment of vacation apartments. An e-charging station was installed at the property's own parking lot - as a service aspect for guests and, since it is the first electric charging station in the village of Zeltingen-Rachtig, also an incentive for vacationers to arrive by electric car. Every e-mobile driver with a Plugsurfing app can refuel there, and guests of the hotel receive a free charge via a chip. Outdoor Living Lots of fresh air, ideal and healthy not only in pandemic times. The natural garden belonging to the property was made fit for outdoor living. It is equipped with a hammock, table and chairs, barbecue and dishes, etc. and has a modern garden house: equipped with a countertop, coffee maker and gas stove as an improvised outdoor kitchen, you can also retreat indoors in bad weather. The natural garden is located on a raised terrace behind the house still above the covered outdoor lounge - the perfect place for people with conscious, healthy lifestyle. More lifestyle for the Moselle. More Moselle for vacation-minded city dwellers. With the Weingarten 1897 concept, we are pursuing the goal of driving the transformation process in the Moselle Valley: The beautiful area of the Moselle Valley, which is characterized by viticulture and tourism, is undergoing a profound transformation. A new generation of young winegrowers is breaking new ground in viticulture and launching innovative wine projects. A new generation of city dwellers and nature lovers is discovering the treasures of the authentic region and realizing the benefits of a vacation that deliberately avoids long-distance destinations and luxury hostels in exotic destinations. The Weingarten 1897 balances the potential of an enchanting wine region with the desires of urban travelers. - The perfect place for short-haul- and short vacations of city dwellers who do not want to give up their accustomed standard of living even on vacation. Bottle storage and store We want to support the efforts to recover, guard and give a platform to the treasures of the region. Whether that is the sustainable wine project, the gin made from local grapes from the steepest vineyard in the world, the traditional artisan who still masters the old techniques and conjures up wonderful things, or the incomparable wild boar salami made here: Specialties like these, which we track down in the region, we offer to our guests. For this purpose, we have converted the old bottle warehouse, where the bottled Riesling wines used to be stored, into a small store with tasting facilities. Here the guests can browse undisturbed, take one or the other sample and take home the sensual impressions of their vacation. Wine and design The Weingarten 1897 was conceived by interior designer Bettina Kratz and communication designer Markus Kratz. In their real life, the two are owners of kplus konzept in Düsseldorf, office for communication and interior design, which is known with its 25-member team and has received many awards for its marketing and spatial concepts for real estate projects, shopping malls, hotel & hospitality.
