Located in Bogor, a town with cooling weather, Weekend.ers restaurant offers modern Thai food with a tropical experience ambiance set with unique shapes detail & color to appeal. "Every day is weekend" is the main motto of this restaurant, where they hope to deliver the room experiences and food taste that makes one happy, relaxed, and pleasant moments to the customers as if they feel excitement while welcoming the weekend. Facing the Covid-19 pandemic, the biggest challenge is to provide the best for potential customers at Weekend.ers restaurant so that they feel safe to tp comes to the restaurant. The designers do a redesign and relooking for materials selections, especially top tables, bar's material, and public toilets material. We redesigned the surfaces material with materials that are easy to clean and don't have too many pores so it's safer for customers. The designers deliberately adjust the appearance of the façade window so that it can be opened and gives a semi-outdoor impression, in addition to reducing the use of air conditioning, the open-air circulation provides a sense of security to customers who can enjoy the food and atmosphere of the Weekend.ers restaurant design. As a city itself Bogor experiences heavy downpour regularly hence material selection ought to be heavy duty but yet looks aesthetically pleasing. As the target customer groups vary from youth to families, the design language needs to consider a universally acceptable language while unique enough in shapes and colors to appeal to the younger crowds. The natural topography of the site has a steep difference in elevation making it a challenge to achieve seamless level integration, however, the designer saw the opportunities to turn the contoured sites into an outdoor amphitheater setting complete with stage and live band performance-enhancing the feeling of the exciting and relaxed weekend, and also inviting to the potential customers as the same time. The design concept is inspired by the festive spirit & the feeling of excitement when one watches fireworks, packed with a touch of tropical elements. Fireworks ideas translated into design elements such as light fixtures & branding patterns, simulating a fireworks explosion and expression. The spatial journey deployed a narrative of a hiking journey climbing the mountain to watch the fireworks from up high, with transitional spaces from dark to bright spaces and ropes along the way simulating the lifeline leading a hiker’s journey. The juxtaposition between tropical elements such as rattan and veneer woods with trendy colors and shapes is also explored in the design resulted in a unique customized design. The combination of materiality such as terrazzo, copper & rattan with pop colors & shapes is explored in the design resulted in making the overall interior design one of its kind, through the various instagenic spots inside the restaurant, make it suitable as a venue for gathering with friends and family to eat, drink and be merry.
