The VIVI Restaurant & Bar is part of the revival of the Centre Point Development. It integrates into the fabric of London and occupies what was an empty unused space. The name VIVI is a nod to the birth year of Centre Point; repeated roman numerals for “66”. The design concept took inspiration from the “Swinging London”, a celebration of its culture, paying homage to the art, fashion and design of that era. The client's brief was to create an all-day brasserie with a British provenance. The space was to incorporate bars, relaxed dining and lounges. The space is divided into four zones: VIVI Bar, Liquid Lounge, Gallery, VIVI Dining. Each zone has a distinct atmosphere and palette that harmonises and coordinates with each other. As contrast to brutalist concrete and glass space designed by the architect, Richard Seifert, we have used curves and soft feminine palette to soften and enhances the space. A palette of modern finishes, fittings and materials was used that has a reference to the 60s era which creates a sense of nostalgia. The concluding design is bold, fun, and approachable but also aims to be elegant with a timeless quality, and fulfilled on the clients brief and their ambition for their new flag ship restaurant to have a strong identity.
