The given structural situation consists of the Villa Duttenhofer, the listed old building, built around 1857, as well as the new building, built in 2018. The new building is a three-sided glazed reinforced concrete building surrounded by a park. The ensemble is centrally located at the historic centre of Rottweil. The concept for the restaurant was based on the idea of creating a place that, on the one hand, deals with the building substance and the history in a compatible and respectful manner and, on the other hand, creates the framework for a lively, diverse and valuable gastronomy. Therefore it is important to zone the rooms and thus create different living qualities, but without generating a break in the overall appearance. The main aesthetic components of the concept for the new building are to generate a modern ceiling design as a link between the guest areas with regard to the building situation and a friendly warm seating level. The play of the different materials, fabrics, colours and shapes should refer to the historical and architectural situation, interpret them modernly and form a harmonious whole. The location is to be designed communicatively, that is to say, not to introduce high barriers, but to be supported by the room acoustics pleasantly and by the light atmosphere friendly discreetly. The lighting concept was divided into a functional light level hidden in the ceiling and a decorative light level underneath. The ceiling forms the characteristic heart of the guest room. It consists of brass sheets into which a sample has been lasered. The pattern was specially designed for the villa. It is derived from the leaves of the park and makes the guest feel safe. Due to the inclusion of the leafwork, the outside area is also mixed with the inside area. The pattern was worked out as an infinite pattern. The pattern was lasered out of the brass sheets in such a way that no straight cutting edge was created. The edges of the brass sheets therefore follow the pattern and are therefore no longer traceable. In addition, the pattern offers the possibility of creating almost invisible holes for lighting, which fit harmoniously into the pattern. The functional lighting disappears in the ceiling. The curved base shape of the ceiling, made from specially curved dry construction profiles, supports the room atmosphere. The ceiling runs in a wave that gives the middle part a higher room height than the lounge and bar area. As a result, this area becomes more intimate and the middle area more open. Through the by hand burnished brass sheets, the valuable bond to the historic old building is established. The ceiling also performs the following functions: Ventilation ceiling: The opening part of the brass plate has been measured in such a way that the ventilation/air conditioning system has enough space to blow through. Acoustic ceiling: Behind the brass plate plane was built an acoustic plane with absorber plates. Thus the ceiling also works as an acoustic ceiling. Soundsystem: The sound system with subwoofers has been integrated into the intermediate ceiling area. Fire protection: In addition, the ceiling meets the fire protection requirements of a event place and is completely non-flammable. The furniture follows the zoning and creates the following areas with increasing length of stay/residence quality: - a arrival and product area with high seats, a Carrara marble chest and cellular tiles (short stay, more to see) - a bar area with the buffet back that passes into the ceiling. And a counter panel that picks up the wave of the ceiling in the CNC-milled bars (area with high fluctuation and communication), - a lateral pedestal area with leather seats and dining area (settled more quiet area, slightly away from the traffic areas), - a middle area as the heart of the style of the French brasserie with two 7. 5 meter long back-to-back benches, in Petrolblau (open area, communicative) - a lounge area with carpet color contrasting in pink. ( cozy, club feeling) So the guest has an ever-increasing quality of stay from the moment of arrival to the lounge area. As a decorative light, a uniform range of lights from mouth-blown coloured lights was chosen for the ceiling. By hiding the mounting elements in the intermediate ceiling, the glass lights float below the brass ceiling.
