We aspired to create a canvas for all of the different brands to express themselves in an environment that can visually transform over time as shows, brands and trends change. The space is intended to be a workplace and a gathering place, as well as an entertaining locale to film various media. Floor-to-ceiling windows on all six floors fill the space with natural light and offers panoramic views of L.A. and the Hollywood sign. Carefully selected furnishings and light fixtures inspire creativity, while high-impact visual imagery in key areas both introduce the brand milieu and encourage out-of-the-box thinking. Coffee bars, open lounges and collaboration tables can be found on every floor, enticing employees to leave their workspaces and innovate with their colleagues. Outdoor spaces include a rooftop patio that doubles as a filming location as well as a resort-style terrace where individuals and groups can work and engage.
In a powerful and visually-striking move, the designers created a new “front door” for Viacom, providing drama and identity and immediately capturing guests’ attention. Interpreting Viacom’s vision for creative space with a reductive use of architecture, we designed a large blue cube that frames the entry to this entertainment powerhouse. Taking inspiration from the proverbial “blank blue of a TV screen,” the entrance draws visual attention from Sunset Blvd while simultaneously acting as a way-finding device and an Instagrammable moment for passersby.
