This travelling library features one hundred titles, from across multiple genres, chosen by artists at the invitation of Asia Art Archive during Art Basel Hong Kong 2017. AAA asked participating artists to share personal stories related to their selection. After Art Basel, “Under the Influence” travels to secondary schools in Hong Kong, circulating these ideas to new audiences.

The design consists of three major components: collapsible bookshelves, stackable storage boxes, and wall hanging display panels. The collapsible bookshelf consists of six modular units, three on top and three on the bottom, which can be taken apart and folded to fit into the storage boxes. The shelves has “fingers” that can flipped 90 degrees to hold books and the cards of the artists’ personal stories. The wall hanging display panels can be mounted on the wall for additional display for the books. The bookshelves and display panels are the same length, allowing them to fit into the stackable storage boxes. The storage boxes are also used to store the one hundred titles and other display items, which makes it easy to transport six stackable storage boxes. During the exhibition, the storage boxes has an additional cushion top that can be added, allowing it to be used as seating.
