TrichoLab is a unique and comprehensive hair and scalp care salon that combines natural ingredients with medical science to provide personalized premium services. Located within a shopping mall along Orchard Road, the interior design aims to express the ethos of TrichoLab while exuding a harmonious blend of modern luxury, natural serenity, and innovative expertise, in the process creating a unique and captivating environment for their customers.
On Functionality
1/ Taking inspiration from the natural flow of silky hair, the layout emphasized on fluidity and flow with curved walls creating a sense of discovery and anticipation, choreographing the customer’s journey from arrival into a seamless and enjoyable experience.
2/ Public spaces are delineated by a series of perforated walls created out of conventional metal wire mesh, finished in rose gold color. Not only does it make the space more expansive, it also serves as a functional inhabited wall where elements such as mirror and hairdryer can be hung.
3/ Private spaces are enclosed and finished with ‘mamorino’ texture paint finish in peach color. The peach, rose gold, warm hues colour palette creates a soothing and calming environment, perfect for relaxation in this warm and inviting space.
4/ Inside the VIP rooms, we adopts a calming palette to provide a tranquil environment for customer to further relax while receiving treatment.
On Creativity
1/ The public area partition is created out of metal wire mesh, hence anchoring the experience of the brand story. It is an innovative take on how a humble material like metal wire mesh can contribute to a luxurious spatial setting.
2/ A series of layered fabric adorn the ceiling, creating a design feature with soft silhouettes across the public area. The adoption of digital fabrication technology made the intricate and highly precise ceiling design become a reality, thus setting a new standard for design expectations in Asia.
3/ The incorporation of planting and greenery brings a touch of nature indoors, purifying the air and creating a sense of serenity.
On Innovation
1/ Using metal mesh walls instead of drywall for better durability and ease of construction. They are prefabricated and formed in the factory to increase accuracy while reducing downtime on site. In addition, they allow for better airflow and ventilation as well.
2/ Adopting digital fabrication to laser-cut the ceiling fabric design, enabling precise cuts, reducing errors and minimizing waste while utilizing material more efficiently.
On Eco-social impact
1/ TrichoLab's interior design not only embodies a commitment to aesthetic excellence but also reflects a deep understanding of the psychological impact of color and space while expressing the essence of the brand story. By harnessing the therapeutic qualities of colour and materiality, the salon offers a sanctuary where clients can escape the stresses of everyday life and embark on a journey of renewal and self-care.
