TOKYU PLAZA HARAJUKU HARAKADO: A Dynamic Creator Platform for the Future
Located at one of Harajuku’s most iconic intersections in Tokyo, HARAKADO redefines the shopping experience by blending creativity, community, and functionality. Spanning from B2 to the 7th-floor rooftop terrace, the facility features 75 unique shops across six zones: Workplace, Art & Park, Food Area, Rooftop Plaza, Public Bath, and Retail. Designed to adapt to users’ needs, HARAKADO fosters meaningful connections, creating a vibrant hub for work, leisure, and collaboration.
In an era when traditional retail faces challenges, HARAKADO sets a new benchmark for retail complexes, demonstrating how thoughtful design and community-driven innovation can redefine how people connect with commercial spaces.
A New Concept for Its Sector
HARAKADO introduces a groundbreaking model for commercial spaces by merging retail with creative workplaces and community hubs. Its use of OA floors—typically found in offices—allows tenants to customize layouts and utilities, enabling unique expressions of creativity. This flexibility ensures a dynamic, ever-evolving visitor experience.
Original and Inventive Design
HARAKADO’s minimalist yet impactful design offers a fresh perspective in every zone. The Rooftop Plaza serves as an open-air escape, while Art & Park provides a vibrant gathering space. The Public Bathhouse (sentō) combines tradition with modernity, creating a communal experience. Together with curated shops and interactive spaces, HARAKADO fosters curiosity and engagement.
Designed with Human Needs in Mind
HARAKADO enriches the visitor experience through six distinct zones. The Workplace inspires creativity, Art & Park invites relaxation, and the Food Area offers diverse culinary options. The Rooftop Plaza provides serene city views, the Public Bath promotes relaxation, and the Retail zone showcases innovative offerings. These interconnected zones balance work, play, and leisure seamlessly.
Contributing to Social, Economic, and Environmental Wellbeing
HARAKADO emphasizes sustainability and inclusivity. Its “neighborhood association” system fosters collaboration between tenants and operators, strengthening community ties. Renewable energy themes in Art & Park raise environmental awareness, while the platform supports creators and small businesses, driving economic vitality. Socially, HARAKADO unites generations through public spaces and cultural features, becoming a hub for meaningful interactions.
HARAKADO is more than a destination—it’s a community-driven platform redefining urban spaces. With innovative design, diverse zones, and a commitment to sustainability, it sets a transformative example for the future of retail and beyond.
