The store is located in the municipality of Zapopan, in the city of Guadalajara Jalisco, Mexico. The 120 m2 project is an extension of the Rufino Tamayo Museum mission in Mexico City which has become a benchmark for Mexican design products, jewelry, clothing and furniture for those visiting the museum. It also offers a wide selection of its own publications, as well as books, journals and magazines issued by national and international publishing houses featuring the latest proposals in the production and exhibition of contemporary art and design. The project is developed in a contained space in a polygon that opens and closes its facade by means of vertical elements composed of mobile wooden panels that rotate on their own axis, thus allowing for cross circulation. The open panels merge the outdoors with the indoors, creating a double access that offers rhythm to the facade. These vertical elements help focus the perspective towards the main exhibition volumes. The closed panels contain and protect the interior, creating a solid wooden surface that aims to highlight the glass box located at the end of the main entrance, housing a display case composed of a platform for exhibiting products. The austere and rectilinear space is defined by volcanic stone walls that contrast with the warmth of the oak wood. The interior route is composed of monolithic elements that encourage a spatial experience of contrast between the scale of the space and the items to be displayed.
