Located in the city, amongst the urban lifestyle and the blurring noise of everyday life, this boho sanctuary is designed to answer an alluring need for solitude, and act as a hideaway right in the middle of it all. The client specifically asked for a residence, one that gives the same energy and tranquility a second home offers, allowing him to completely disconnect from the city. That’s why BLCK’s team of experts took a different approach in designing this city-house in order to fully capture the feeling of being on a vacation to unwind.

Details were key, whether it’s the shell-white colored walls that achieved the neutral look in every room or the on-floor seating area that gives an air of humility, or even the extensively researched usage of materials that intertwine together in an undisturbed flow, with a darker undertone beneath each unit that connects the whole design together.

When it came to execution, planning an Arcadian style inspired home was the goal. As a result, light played a vital role in design, where several sources of sunlight illuminate the majority of the space, along with multiple arches in every entrance that form a refreshing alignment, seen from different angles. All of this was complimented with a grand dome, designed to act as a central focal point to the house, covered with hand-painted patterns that carefully break the minimalistic feel in a pleasant flow of detail.

The outdoors area, which can be clearly seen through the house’s interior, falls in line with the idea of designing the house to give a more spacious feel than usual, with the outdoors matching the minimalistic feel of the indoors atmosphere, using wooden statements and earthy materials along with neutral colors, contrasted with flashy accents of yellow and green, adding a vibrant twist on the overall feel. In the pursuit of creating a vacation-home in the city, a skylight was added in the ceiling of the master bedroom, designed for stargazing, with the option of having the skylight retract and extend at anytime for more privacy.

Due to BLCK studio’s commitment to a minimal approach, the house became a celebration of independence, taking a calmer and more collected route to everyday life through a sophisticated design. You can clearly witness how BLCK achieved the objective, with an exceptional vision intertwined with a minimal touch, seen in the overall design of the condo.
