This is a project where three generation will be living together in the space of 115m2. The brother of the owner chose the Hinoki as a gift, and let the blessing and affection can be naturally felt in every corner of the home. The space began with a molding wall with an abstract of wood cutting tools which implied the history of the family’s business passed from the father to the son for more than 40 years.
Hallways are no longer just a path to walk through. They provide a way to retain emotional and sentimental connection. The exhibition wall is horizontally and vertically connected, with family paintings and travel souvenirs displayed on staggered stainless steel frames bringing a sense of nostalgia every time the family walks through. We named it Memory Hallway.
The fragrance of a piece of Hinoki is diffused throughout the home. Each family member is busily engaged with their respective jobs but they cherish the beautiful memories of traveling together. These memories are kept permanently in the memory hallway.
When walking in and out of the memory hallway, you experience a slight change in your life. When you walk into this colorful and interesting space, you feel joy close at hand.
