Interior design of the public areas of a large commercial complex in Shenyang Huanggu, China.
In designing the interior, we set out the concept of 'Journey to Creation'.The message is that a journey of discovery, knowledge and inspiration begins in this commercial facility. The compass/ DIRECTION as a 'guidepost' for the journey is a common design motif throughout the entire facility. In line with the concept of the journey, the facility is divided into five sections - Departures, Movements, 3 stories, Oasis and Another World - to reflect the areas and activities within the facility. The 'Departure' section features a gate design at the entrance that foreshadows the beginning of the journey. The "Movement" section features the design of escalators, lifts and other areas where movement can be enjoyed. In the 'Story' section, three distinctive atrium spaces are set up as places where three different stories can be told: 'Sky/urban/ocean', each designed with different materials and light effects. The 'REST' area is a restful space with benches and a toilet area. The underground area is then designated as the 'Other World', a lively and dramatic space where new food experiences and emotions are encountered.
We found Shenyang to be one of China's leading heavy industrial cities, as well as a fascinating city where commerce and internationalisation are developing. We designed a space that continues to stimulate curiosity and resonate with the city. The entrance, which creates a connection with the outside world, expresses a sense of anticipation for the start of the journey from the city to creation through the design of a gate with a series of lights that foreshadow the beginning of the journey, based on the theme of 'departure' in the concept of this year's 'Journey to Creation'.
The most distinctive space is the large aisle known as the Urban Corridor. On the ceiling, there is a metal panel design that evokes the brilliance of the city of Shenyang. The metal panels, which vary in angle, reflect light diffusely, expressing the liveliness and brilliance of the city.
Above all, the project is conscious of spatial design for a new era. We are convinced that it will be a distinctive commercial facility that will lead the next generation. The project is also notable for its consideration of sustainability, with extensive use of recyclable aluminium and other materials. The building's central concept of being both progressive and fashionable is important to us, and its clear spatial structure, attractive materials and beautiful light invite us to discover and be surprised by the unknown every time we visit.
