A 450-square meters showroom that is a truly manifesto, a real hub which contains design. The project takes the distance from the classic architecture of art shows and create a new sanctuary for timeless design pieces. The clients’ aim was to create a new home for design in Catania that will create a synergy of the two families experience: lighting and furniture. The showroom is developed in three floors hold together by a curved stair that, as a sculptural ribbon, connects the different levels. Indeed, the stair is the main protagonist of the entire project, since customers step into from the ground floor they are drawn to it. The artificial smooth curve, which is not a hyperbola and not a parabola, connects the first floor with the ground floor and continues is path towards the basement floor with a plain line that dematerialize itself on the right side with a glass wall. Another main feature is the sophisticated durmast wainscoting which cover the walls of the stairs and part of the showroom walls and creates a warm touch in contrast of the colder and material feeling of Laminam. Instead of steady and anonymous shop corners, the products exhibition have been designed to be a spatial continuum of rooms as an actual house. In fact, the design process adopted is the same used for house design, where flexibility and fluidity of spaces are the key features of each project. This is visible in the use of the light products which connects each space trough out a linear track.
