Newton and Moon - FAITHLAND GROUP The Grace Land Shenzhen Sale Centre

The project aimed to probe spatial design of its connection and parallel with Basic Physics and literature. Meanwhile, it promoted the study, design, and manufacturing practice of a new material.

Inspired by classical mechanics, the design concept is about Newton and the Moon, trying to show a grand and interesting imagination by describing the potential connection between physics and spirit. Newton's Cradle as a symbol of Basic Physics was the key element in the enormous experimental installation in the space. The 24 metal balls of equal quality were a visualization of the circular phase of the moon. The installation greatly enhance the interactive between visitors and the space, so as to create an unforgettable experience that stretch from the ground floor to a 25 meters high in the air, to inspire an imagination without boundary.

The space was designed as a housing estate sales center with multiple civic functions such as reading center for citizens and children. Thus, space flexibility is a must, as well as a good balance between its commercial and cultural use.

Accordingly, flexibility was also the design strategy. Decentralization provided various possibilities in terms of time periods, target groups and different functions, improving space efficiency while enhancing space experience. Sphere and circle as the united visual elements created a clue in the space, furniture, installation, and commercial settings, softening the original structure of the building. The open floor and flexible floor plan also led to the variability of circulation, with the spheres generated the hot spots where people gathered.

The project provided an unique yet friendly public space for children, where they could read and play at ease, explore and inspired in an immersive atmosphere.
